10 Feb DNS: Did Not Start
Saturday marked my first DNS as a runner. I was scheduled to run the Mississippi River Marathon, but made a last minute decision to not risk the drive. Central Arkansas was covered with ice and snow and I couldn’t risk getting stuck somewhere down south. They like for the preacher to be at church on Sunday.
I posted my disappointment in the Marathon Maniacs Facebook group and received some sound advice. One of the members shared with me to remember that there are more important things in life than running and reaching Maniac status.
He was and is right. There are many more important things in life. Backing out of the race knocked me out of contention to be a part of the Marathon Maniacs at this time, but there are more races to run.
I think I will take this DNS as a badge of honor and a reminder that there are things in life that are more important than running.
