On October 26th, Temple Baptist Church of Rogers will be hosting a 5k at the JB Hunt Park in Springdale, Arkansas to raise money for Lifeword Media Ministries. Annually, Lifeword encourages churches of the Baptist Missionary Association of America to get involved with a fundraising effort called Walk for the World. It is walkathon that has its participants find sponsors for them as they walk a 5k distance. This year, we have decided to do a little more for Lifeword. We are putting together a fun event in a local park that we hope will reach a whole other group that can help make a difference for Lifeword. Now, all of the walkers will still be able to do their part, but with addition of a race, the sky is the limit. Here is the order of events for the day…
3:00pm – Packet Pick Up for Runners Opens
3:35pm – Costume Contest (Prizes being donated by Rock Bottom Comics of Fayetteville)
4:00pm – 5k Run
4:30pm – NWA Regional Walk for the World Begins
4:45pm – 5K Awards (Overall winners as well as Age Divisions)
We will be in the park from 2pm until 6pm. Donny Parrish, Creative Director from Lifeword, will be our Master of Ceremonies and Holly Meriweather, Lifeword’s Walk Coordinator, will also be joining us for the day. It is going to be a lot of fun. I hope that you will considering running with us.
