The Craziest Month of the Year…

The Craziest Month of the Year…

For this youth pastor, July is always a little crazy.  We take our students to the SOAR Conference put on by DiscipleGuide and the BMAA.  There are usually 2500 students in attendance.  This year, the conference even had LeCrae.  It was a pretty epic trip.  Our church camp also falls during the month of July.  I love camp and have even been elected as the superintendent of our week at the Ozarks Baptist Encampment.  This year, our church decided to wedge Vacation Bible School in between both of those.  I am just now recovering from the insanity of the month.

My encouragement for my readers is this… Make sure you take a vacation.  I am one to put off my vacation as long as I can.  I don’t want to let people down by not being there when they need me.  However, if I don’t take care of myself mentally and emotionally, I will be of little value to them while I am here.  The healthy pastor is one that not only takes care of themselves when it comes to eating and exercise, but remembers the emotional side of their lives as well.  Trust me, your family will appreciate it.

Those that know me will attest to the fact that I am pretty cheap.  I hate spending money and vacations can get pretty pricey.  If you have a tendency to be a little tight with cash, then look for alternatives.  Go camping.  Visit family that lives out of state.  Take day trips for a week and make it a “stay-cation.”  Whatever you choose, take the time for yourself and your family.

Don’t let the Craziest Month of the Year drive you over the edge.  Find the rest that you NEED.
