Weight Training…

Weight Training…

Over the past several years of working out, I have avoided the “other” side of the gym.  You know, that side where the guys might be grunting and my manhood feels threatened because of how little weight I can lift.  However, with the encouragement of one of the TKD parents that I have known for the past few years, I have started shoving some weights around.  Buidling muscle allows your body to burn more calories even when you are at rest.  While I’ve only been doing this for the past few weeks, I have noticed that I am feeling stronger and more fit.  Now, there is a down side. My shirts are a little tighter, but in a good way.

When you are working towards health, you are going to need to try a wide range of things.  Weight training, Taekwondo, mountain biking, and running are just a few of the things that you can try.  Ultimately, you will find something you like, but don’t forget to stay well rounded.  Strength AND Cardio are important when looking at fitness.  Even beyond the physical, we must remember the emotional and spiritual aspects of our lives.
Do the heavy lifting that it takes to become a healthier you.
